Group Therapy Experiment

We have taken it upon ourselves to solve the anxiety problem on a certain social network for those waiting for groups to be approved. Since neither I nor any of the test subjects are qualified or educated in any kind of therapy except for retail therapy, and also because of our limited grant funding, we chose the medication route and are pleased to introduce you to our new designer drugs.

From a pool of 100 points possible for each test subject, Chris has earned 98 points for her new Chill Pill. You can tell it's a chill pill because by the final phase, it is wearing a lovely coat and hat and seems much happier. I had to subtract 50 points from Chris for scaring the stuffing out of us with her second failed project, otherwise known as "the blue one," because it looked like a bomb about to explode. It turns out it was just a clock. But the mess of overturned tables and chaos cost us extra in janitorial funds. I did give her a bonus of 51 points for the cute outfit on this successful pill though. Total points = 99. Well done, @Ms_Awesome !

Ashley scored 80 points right off the bat with her new Chill Pill. He was totally unexpected and I had to award her 20 bonus points for being the first to complete the experiment as well as her very cool details of shades, lips, hair and beach towel. He is guaranteed to help people chill and relax! 🙂 Total points = 100! Fabulous and creative work!

Clair has been awarded 49 points for these shell-shocked chill pills. They are just too cute with their embellishments and facial expressions. But that is not all! She received bonus points for her last project which included her signature style. See next post.

Clair received a bonus of 50 points for completing this designer chill pill in addition to her shell-shocked series. This one has her signature voodoo style and was made in a larger dosage for those who need the maximum amount of chilling! ;) Total points = 99 and a job well done!

Faye was immediately awarded 98 points for her set of chill pills. She made a nesting set of different sizes and facial expressions! Super creative and industrious. I also had to give her a bonus point for the wonderful gif she made of them in action! :) Total points = 99 and stellar results! :)

Sparklerose earned 60 points right away with her wonderful Chilly Pill. I then awarded 39 more because she was able to turn him into Chilly Willy with a little medicinal help, mind you. I almost subtracted those 39 points back when I realized what was causing the odd smell in the lab (fire risks, don't you know?) but when I saw how improved he actually was, I couldn't bring myself to take any points away. Plus, cool hat! Total points = 99 and a very creative and successful project!

Danielle earned 70 points for her gorgeous blue chill pill. An additional 29 points was added when she personalized her designer drug with awesome hair, facial features and his own little sleeping bag to cuddle up in. So tiny, so detailed, so fabulous! Total points = 99 and an exceptional result! :)

Olga receives 94 points for her fabulous little chill pill. He was unique from the start with his coloring and dynamite mohawk (or are those dragon scales?). I have to award another bonus amount of 5 points because he has sprouted arms since the last time I saw him and that mug is the pefect hangout for him. Fabulous work on a great designer pill! Total points = 99!

Susan just missed the 100 point mark. She made so many of these cute little chill pills that she filled a jar for a friend. I did have to subtract a point though since she said they now smell like pickles and we aren't sure if her friend even likes pickles. ;) Total points = 99 and a fabulous bottle of designer chill pills!

Thanks to all my test subjects for their efforts and hard work.  This experiment started off all crazy due to some unexpected glitches getting people into the group.  I apologize to those I lost on the way and hope to have you in a future experiment.

Operation Occupy Platform Experiment Results

For the first ever Mad Crochet Lab Experiment performed exclusively on a platform I’m no longer active on, my test subjects and I first identified a severe problem on there and we resolved to fix it! It seems there were a LOT of accounts that were inactive and had no profile pics, so they basically just looked like a blank green head. I am extremely happy to report that the experiment went very well and we succeeded in transforming those green heads into accounts with some personality!  Take a look below at our results and see for yourself!

Dollyknickers earned 100 points for her experiment. How could she not? Her greenhead was completely transformed from having the personality of a wet dishcloth to this amazing, colorful and lively creation called Bow. She also earned a bonus point for being the first to complete Phase I. Now I just hope Wydowna can keep her fangs off him! Congratulations on a job well done, Dolly! :)

Sharon earns 99 points out of 100 for her successful experiment of eliminating a greenhead on the platform by giving it some personality! She gets a bonus point for also finding a pink one and doing the same! :) I know - who knew there were pink ones too? I didn't. ;)

During this experiment, Faye found out, to all of our surprise, that if you spill coffee on a greenhead, it multiplies, much like Mogwai in the movie Gremlins. But she was able to successfully eliminate the greenheads by giving them each some personality! Woot. I love them all! She earns 33-1/3 points for each of her experiments. I had to subtract a point from her for the coffee waste, but then added a point back because she cleaned up the spill. ;)

Rebekah earned 98 points out of 100. I had to subtract two because she forgot her tools. *gasp!* I know, right? But then she quickly earned the two points back by finding a way to put some personality into her greenhead even after it was lost! She's magic, I tell you! A job well done! And another win for Operation Occupy Platform!

Rhonda earned 75 points for this experiment, plus an addition 25 for creativity! She figured if the greenheads were going to act like aliens on the platform, then they may as well look like them too! Fab photos and great little spaceships too! (How do they get in and out of those things?) Anyway, Operation Occupy Platform gains another occupant to replace a greenhead!

Here you can see Michelle's greenhead - she immediately gave her some flowing blue locks to give her some personality and I would have given her the full 100 points if she hadn't let her experiment escape from the lab!!!!!! :0

Her greenhead, named Blue, ended up getting seasick!

Then Blue laid out in sun...

Then Blue laid out in sun…

And she ended up getting sunburned! Michele almost lost all her points for this experiment. But I had a think on it (and a Margarita) and then realized that Blue had gone and done all these things without any limbs which HAS to be difficult and in the process, Michele actually ended up eliminating three greenheads and giving them personality! So all was forgiven and full points awarded! Nice work!

This experiment by Sparklerose earned 99 points right off the bat because adding that giant eye gave it infinite more personality than it had as a greenhead! She finished it off with gorgeous rosette curls and a flower adornment for a bonus point. Another victory for Operation Occupy Platform! Woot!

Olga's punk greenhead transformation was amazing! Nobody can say this little greenhead has no personality now. Olga receives 98 points for her experiment, plus a bonus two points for combining my two favorite colors in with the hair - yellow and blue! I don't know how she knew that. ;) This is the last of the experiments in Operation Occupy Platform. I think it went well despite some beta bugginess. :)

Even our honorary group member contributed to the efforts. Clod is not allowed to wield a crochet hook in my experiments after the nasty Pink Hat of Death incident and was restricted to using only drawing utensils. You can see she was able to take a greenhead and turn it into something completely different. She earned one point for her experiment but I subtracted it after seeing what she did here with a sacred crochet hook. ;)

Can We Improve Our Memories?

I’ve always had a bad memory.  When meeting groups of new people, I have to make a concentrated effort to use and repeat their names over and over in my head to get them to “stick.”  It takes me several times of traveling the same route to know how to get somewhere.  I’m sure some of my health issues and treatments over the years have greatly added to my level of brain fog, but I wonder if that can be improved?  After all, certain animals are said to have great memories.  And aren’t humans just a step above most other animals? Surely, there MUST be something we can do to aid our imperfect memories and memory lapses.  Now, if I can just remember where I put my keys, I can get my notebook out of the desk drawer and get to work on creating an experiment to help us remember things.

Is Mental Health an Illusion?

There are so many terms to describe behavior that is considered deviant from the “norm.”  We often hear things like “loony,” “nutty,” “mad,” “cuckoo,” and “batty,” to describe people who behave differently.  While I don’t condone the use of most of those terms in a derogatory manner, it stands to reason that some research needs to be done in this area.  Is there really a “norm?”  Are there differing levels of aberrant behavior that should each have their own classification?  Can such behavior be modified?  I shall embark on a journey to attempt to answer these questions by gathering a few test subjects, er research assistants, and run an experiment to learn more.  Results should be published here in a few days’ time.  See my facebook page to volunteer.
