Ami-Me 2013

Here is a round-up of the Ami-mes that were created and submitted as part of my challenge for last year.  The first is mine – a bit late and still naked!  I realized towards the end of the year when everything was crazy that I would not have time to make her some clothes!  My ami-me is actually a caricature of my alter ego.  She is the representation of me as I see myself when i am the Mad Crochet Scientist.  Obviously, I will need to make her a lab coat!  But that is not all – I’ve made her eyes and hair temporary so that I can make more wigs for her and features that can change for future photo ops!  One of her wigs will be of hair that is more like my own in real life.  But I do love her crazy mad white hair with the pink streak for my mad crochet scientist persona!

Next up is Dendennis, who was actually the first to have an ami-me submitted for the challenge!  He spotted my challenge and had already created an ami-me of himself for his upcoming book!  Isn’t his adorable?  Dendennis is an accomplished crocheter with many free patterns available.  Check him out!

Boumse also completed the challenge with her adorable matching ami-me!  Her ami-me does belly dancing just like she does!   I love her little outfit!

And last but not least, is this fabulous ami-me from Kim Lapsley!  Amazing detail on hands/fingers/feet and clothing!  Kim always puts 100% into her work and it shows!  Many of you may remember Kim and her fabulous crochet patterns from her Woolly Toons page but you can now find her at her newly named sites.  See the link to her facebook page under the photo and update your links!

Thank  you all for joining me on this challenge.  It was a lot of fun and I hope to do more challenges here at the blog in the future – I’ll try not to over-book myself as well so I can finish my own challenges on time!  Now, I best get to making some clothes for my ami-me.  I never planned for her to be a nudist!  🙂

Do you know that since you issued this challenge the Ami-me has been dancing around in my head? She’s almost been created in my head!

That’s awesome! I can’t wait to meet her! Squeeee! I don’t know how long I’ll be able to put it off myself. It’s kind of exciting! 🙂

YAY!!!!!!!! A place where we can all gather up when we are Ami Me’s. Right here on your page!! Great idea! Thanks for doing the footwork on this. I can not wait to meet everyone! I already have my ideas down to tiny details! If you sketch her out she really takes off! but I have only had the chance to make my hat so far. LOL have to start with the hat when you are “Hat Woman! ” 😀 Thanks again Teeni and btw have I told you today that you are AWESOME!!!!!! 😀

I am a day late to see this comment but I’m seeing it just when I needed the smile! Linny, you make me giggle when I think of you making your Ami-Me’s hat first. I haven’t even done a sketch yet for mine but am hoping to in the next couple of weeks. I want her to be one of the first things I work on as soon as we hit 2013! Thanks for reminding me of the awesomeness! You would do something like that for me just when I need it because YOU, my dear friend, ARE AWESOME! <3

    Greatttttt Idea! Thx

Yay! Janice, you should definitely do it! And great minds think alike – I was thinking that the husband should have a replica too! Let’s do it! 🙂

OMG! I only just saw this but I was only thinking about doing similar the other day! I’m planning on making my friends into ami’s for their birthdays throughout 2013, and mine is second to last in our group so I was debating creating a mini me as well. It seems like the internet is telling me that I have to 😀

ROFL! Oh you do have to! I would love to see a mini-you! And the good thing is no deadline until the end of the year so just fit it in somewhere and since you were going to do it anyway, yay! Two things can be checked off your list! 🙂

AWESOME idea. I have never made an amigurumi so this will be the prefect opportunity to learn.

Hi Charlotte! If you know how to do single crochets, slip stitches, and work in the round, an amigurumi will not be difficult for you at all! If you need to brush up on any of those you can always visit youtube for some great tutorial instructions! It will be fun to try and make mini versions of ourselves! 🙂

My mini me is in my head but like all my ideas stuck behind a brick wall or something. Hopefully I can figure it out soon 🙂

I’m sure she will push her way out. Sometimes you have to ignore them for a while and then they start to demand your attention when they are ready!

How did I miss this? I see a mad dash for new year approaching

It never fails – something always gets put on the back burner and then the end of the year quickly approaches!!!! But I’m going to try and complete this if it kills me. I have always wanted to do one anyway and this will give me the motivation to get ‘er done!!!!

Fantastic, why didn’t I notice this earlier!
I have mine ready, since I’ve written the pattern for my upcoming book.
Where can I send the pictures?

    Dendennis

Hi Dendennis! I’m so glad you found this and congratulations on your upcoming book! How about you post the pic in a message to me at my facebook page and when I’ve got a bunch by the end of the year, I’ll do a big blog post on the blog AND at my facebook page to show them off! I’ll include links and credits, of course! My facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/MadCroScientist

Ups that link appeared by itself, sorry about that 🙁

Thank you Jennifer! Oh, that link is automatically generated by a plug-in I use, called Commentluv – it’s a way to give back some love to people who take the time to comment. It will automatically generate a link back to the commenter’s latest blog post, which may get more people to read your blog. It’s just one small way I can give back when people take the time to comment here, which I love! 😀
